Split Draw Vertical Blinds with Wand Control

Posted: 6 Dec 2024

When the Child Safety Regulations were first introduced, we adopted a policy of only offering wand control vertical blinds. This means the blinds get tilted or operated just by a universal rod. However, this precludes the possibility of split-draw blinds. Following further development of our ultra-modern high quality vertical blind system, we are proud to announce that split-draw operation of vertical blinds is now available with ‘child safe’ wand control.

What are split-draw vertical blinds and how do they work?

Split-draw operation is where the blinds get pulled from both ends of the glazed area. This is handy if you just want to open one window or door and keep shade at the other end of the room. In addition to split-draw operation, you can also have sloping tops. Sloping tops are ideal for the side triangular area on lean-to conservatories. In some cases, we can also offer remote control operation.

There are many cheap vertical blind systems available nowadays, but very few have such an ultra-modern appearance and robust design. This means you are buying a blind that will last for years and is completely ‘child-safe’ with no hanging cords or chains.

Child-safe feature: wand control instead of a blind cord

Older-style vertical blinds used chains or cords strung along the bottom to hold each vertical pane in place. This was often a trip hazard, particularly for small children and pets. Our products no longer have cords along the bottom, resulting in extra child-safe vertical blinds for your home.

What are the other child-safe blind options?

We can offer other child-safe options which are “Safe By Design”

  • SmartCord®

SmartCord® blinds are a totally child safe way to have free-hanging, cord-operated blinds in your home. Thanks, to their short cords that retracts into the headrail, there is no need to worry about child-safety or resort to using cleats to tie up the cord. Although the cord is short, it can still pull any size blind. Pull the cord for the blind so it gently lowers itself, stopping when it reaches the end, or whenever you touch it. SmartCord® blinds are available for our Duette®, pure™ Pleated and Pinoleum blinds.

  • LiteRise®

We have developed the LiteRise® blinds so customers can operate their vertical blinds without chains or cords. This means you will never have to worry about child safety with blinds. Thanks to its integrated counterbalance spring and clutch mechanism, the blind stops precisely where you leave it. Therefore, you can have complete control over your blind without needing extra safety devices such as cleats. Many previous customers have transformed their glass extensions into playrooms since having Literise® blinds installed; a testimony to the child-safe feature. The LiteRise® system is available as either Duette® blinds or Pleated blinds and is ideal for wider windows up to 2.4m (8′).
