The Best Triangular Blinds for Apex Windows

As beautiful as Apex windows are, they often come with glare, heat build-up and lack of privacy. What are the best blinds for apex windows?  Our apex blinds can transform a room. Richard Jones explains how:

What are the best types of blinds for apex windows?

Specialist Blinds apex window blinds are purpose-made for large complicated gable window projects. We’ve spent over 20 years developing our pureaspect ™ shading system which cuts down the number of blinds used on apex and gable windows creating a much cleaner aesthetic. Among the many types of blinds made by our team at our factory in Ashford Kent,  we make pleated blinds for apex windows, electric blinds for apex windows, pleated blinds for apex windows and blinds for large apex windows.

How do you measure apex windows for blinds?
We use a two step process for measuring:

Step 1: An on-site appointment with one of our consultants to work with you to develop a plan that suits both the window and your budget. They will talk you through all the options, and will have samples with them to give you an idea of fabrics and components.

Step 2: Once you have decided on the blind and whether you are choosing manual or motorised mechanics, one of our installers will come and take precise measurements. No two blinds are alike, so taking the time to measure properly is critical for our team at the factory who build your blinds. Once they are made, the same installer will come back to fit the blinds to ensure a proper fit.

Can apex window blinds be motorised?
Yes. We have a  wide selection of electric blind options to let you control your apex blinds exactly the way you want, from our own purepower™ system, to more integrated options with larger automation systems. We recommend motorisation or automation especially for hard-to-reach windows and for safety if you have children or pets.

What materials are best for apex window blinds?
The two most popular types of blinds for apex windows are Duette® and vertical blinds. The Duette® honeycomb fabric makes for an excellent insulator, and can be made into the wide variety of triangular shapes you can find in apex windows.

“Our research and development team, based in our factory in Ashford, Kent, have spent 20 years perfecting our solution for apex blinds.”

Specialist Blinds Case Study:

The Problem: Too Much Glare In The Morning

A customer in Farnham, Surrey had barn conversion with beautiful views of the countryside… and a large area of glazing in their bedroom. The windows themselves were very large and included a big triangular apex at the top. The window was stunning but the customer suffered from intense glare from the bright sunshine and this woke them up most mornings. They also wanted a little more privacy.

The Solution: Two Large Gable Blinds

We recommended two large puresystem™ gable blinds for the apex window in Duette®. Originally designed for gables in conservatories, gable blinds are perfect for large apex windows. We were able to cover the entire area with just two blinds which retracted into a small fabric stack that didn’t obstruct the view. We also colour matched the components of the blinds using our in-house RAL colour powder-coating room to match the window frames.
